BSc(Hons) Digital Media/Multimedia Technology

This page is to give you an overview of what is required if you wish to enter directly into the second or final year of BSc (Hons) Digital Media Technologies (BSc (Hons) Multimedia Technology or Web Technologies are fairly similar). It is expected that you have successfully passed at least one year of study of a degree, or two years of study at HND, and that you have covered the relevant course material.
In general, if the criteria below have been satisfied all direct entrants will be asked for interview and should be prepared to show a portfolio of their work and supporting documentation for the courses they have previously studied.
Into Year 2 (from other degrees or HNDs)
Must have passed their previous year.
Need to have covered:
- Flash and Director: animation, interactivity, embedded video
- Premiere: basic video editing
- some form of programming (preferably Java)
- creating a website: know XHTML, possibly Dreamweaver.
- basic information systems methodologies (ERD, DFD UML)
- basic visual studies
Into Year 3 (from other degrees)
Must have passed their previous year.
Need to have covered the requirements above plus:
- basic HCI
- project management
- basic databases
- Javascript
- PHP MYSQL
- forms in HTML
- at least one of
- Actionscript (Flash programming)
- Lingo (Director programming)
- advanced video (studio work and DVD production)
