EPSRC (DTA) PhD Studentship in Finite Element Analysis
The Computational Mechanics and Reliability Group, based within the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, is seeking a PhD student to undertake research into modelling the behaviour materials used in electronic systems.
The studentship consists of a tax-free stipend (currently £12,300 + £2,000 London Allowance) and tuition fees at the home student level. The stipend is also supported by an additional £3,000 per year from the National Physical Laboratory who is collaborating on this PhD.
Successful candidates should have a BSc and/or MSc in a Physical Sciences or Engineering Discipline with a strong numerical and computing content. Some experience with finite element analysis would be an advantage but not a requirement for the post.
As this project is supported by funds from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (ESPRC) under the Doctoral Training Award (DTA) scheme, then EPSRC eligibility rules apply to this post: http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/funding/students/pages/eligibility.aspx.
