Final year student Nabeel Moghal has just been appointed as the University's first Microsoft Student Partner (MSP).
As part of the role, Nabeel, who is studying for the BEng in Software Engineering and has interests in Virtualisation, Computer Vision and High Performance Computing, will be helping to organise various events and technical talks, including visits by industry leaders from Microsoft and other major computing organisations.
He is also writing a blog, where he will be putting information regarding the programme, and where he comments
"... this is the first time in the university's history that someone has been selected as an MSP.
We need to have Greenwich representation at Microsoft Campus and I hope someone is thinking about taking this responsibility next year."

The future's bright - with CMS' help (Apr 06)
A major new research project which aims to develop smart coatings that will allow cash machine, mobile phone and laptop display screens to be read much more easily in bright sunlight has just been announced.
Researchers from the Universities of Greenwich and Abertay Dundee are collaborating with specialist screen and thin film coatings manufacturers in the two-year, £600,000, ENDSENSE project, part-funded by the Department of Trade & Industry.
Professor Chris Bailey from CMS, who contributes the multi-physics modelling expertise, said: "Manufacturers ... will be able to specify and integrate optical components into their products that are a major advance on current display systems.
In addition, the feedback and control offered by the new smart coatings will reduce energy consumption by two to three times, extend service life and reduce ownership costs."
